Won’t bore you with the plot, since most people have read the book already. The movie was good and entertaining, and serves almost like a refresher of the book and kinda make your imaginations come to life. Now we can’t wait to find out who is going to die in the last book.

First up, Live Free or Die Hard, uhm… I wonder who picked this one… This movie was pretty much what I expected – One action sequence after another stringed together by a plot that’s not very interesting or made much sense. But obviously I didn’t care otherwise I wouldn’t have gone and watched it, and I am glad I did! This movie was a lot of fun to watch, and you didn’t really need to think too much – just sit back and enjoy the explosions.

One thing that did bother me while watching the movie was the bad guy, not that there’s anything wrong with him, it’s just that his face was so familiar… I kept thinking that he is the guy (Josh Duhamel) from the NBC TV show Las Vegas, but then not quite. Well I finally looked him up today and well, he is the sheriff (Timothy Olyphant) from the HBO show Deadwood (awesome awesome show btw). Them two look so much alike, they are probably brothers separated at birth:

Oh, Jeannie didn’t really like it due to intense action sequences and loud explosions.

Jeannie wanted to watch Ratatouille, which was a cute film by the same creators as Toy Story. The movie was lay back and interesting, and suited for the whole family. The movie did make my skin crawl when I see a bunch of rats making food, even if they were made into cute furry little creatures in the movie. It reminded me of eating at the Noodle Planet near UCLA and later found out that they had an F for their cleanness.

Oh I guess there’s a Simpons movie coming out, probably not going to watch it, but they had a cool living room set at the theater.

Oh yeah, don’t know if it’s real or not, but supposedly the male lead of this movie was supposed to be someone else, who was dumb and got fired.

Update: It appears that it’s just a joke they did for the DVD extras to be released.

We got the the theater 10 mins before the movie was to start and was told there were 44 seats left. “Whynot?” we said, and off we went. I managed to find a decent seat 2nd row from the top, which is much better than 2nd row from the front that will sure induce mind trips after the move, while Jeannie got a $2.75 fries from the theater, which probably contained less than 20 fries total, and much worse than the $1 fries from McD.

The movie was alright, kind of more of the same as the 2nd movie. The plot was a bit confusing, but the movie itself was pretty entertaining, and it sure was a good time killer – including previews it’s over 3 hours. It ended with more lead way to another sequel… We are not quite sure about that.

Ok, that was a pretty lame title, but we went to a movie for the first time in ages since nothing was open on Easter and we didn’t really have much to do.  I had mentioned that I wanted to watch this violent movie called 300 before, and since Jeannie didn’t really have any preference, we went ahead and watched it.

Most people probably know the movie already since it’s been very popular lately.  I liked it specially for its visual style, and Jeannie liked the movie in general except its excessive violence.  If you like Sin City, I think you will like this one too (these 2 movies were made from comic novels of the same author).

After the movie we were pondering how historically correct the movie is, and found the following cool link that compares the movie with the actual historical events.  Really cool, check it out here: 300 vs. History.

These kind of movies can be really good when it’s done right, like Crash, but this one didn’t make it.  We just wanted to get it over with by the end of the movie and didn’t really need to see the end to know that the ending is going to be lame (which it was).

First of all, this movie is almost 2.5 hours long, and a lot of it is talking, poker playing, blah blah blah.  There was never really much action.  The story was pretty confusing and not string along very well.  It was like 3 mini stories that are a bit related but not at all very interesting individually or together.  And gone was the sometimes silly humor and high tech gadgets, which I do enjoy in previous Bond movies, but apparently some “pure” Bond fans didn’t like them.

So, this is definitely something different for a Bond film.  It maybe float your boat, or maybe not.  It didn’t work for me or Jeannie.
