Took a day off yesterday for my US Citizenship oath ceremony, so now I am finally an US citizen, yay. It sure took long enough… I think I started the application in 2001, and while there were some changes made to my application, that’s still hell of a long time.
My ceremony was at the LA Convention Center, and damn there were a ton of people there. According to the announcer, 6,001 were getting sweared in on that day, plus lots people went with friends and families. We were all cramped into one convention hall and sat there for 2 hours for the whole thing – it was hot and stuffy, with lots of “interesting” odors…
Everyone gets a little flag to wave around too. I found it very funny that the flags have “Made in USA” printed in Bold on the side, since these things are usually made in China. I guess it would be too ironic to buy cheap ones from China.
Anyway, “Pround to be an American! God bless the USA!” LOL, has that music video always been part of the ceremony?
