I Keyed My Wii – Wiikey!

by Jack · No Comments

wiikey.pngSo yesterday I also got my order of the WiiKey, which of course conflicted with Jeannie’s and mine desires to assembly the Ikea furniture. A compromise was made and I was to install the WiiKey after assembling the furniture. Well, I sure did finish assembling, and I sure was not going to wait a whole day to try out the WiiKey on my Wii. Well, long story short, I stayed up till 3am today and tested it out, and it works! I am so happy now that I can play, err, “backups” of the games that I already “owned.” :P

Long story:
The disassembly of the Wii and the installation of the WiiKey wasn’t really that hard, but what really screwed me up was one of those extremely annoying Triwing screws that they use on Wii. For some stupid reason, one of those screws was really “soft”, and when I tried to unscrew the screw, it totally screwed up the screw, making the screw un-screw-able. It took me 2 hours just to remove that freaking screw, and at the end I was about to just rip the case apart cuz I just didn’t care anymore. Thankfully I came up with another solution including the use of the soldering iron, but I won’t bore you with that.

The WiiKey worked flawlessly the 1st time I tried it, no problem-o. I had intended to take pictures along the installation, but since the screw pissed me off so much, I was too annoyed to do anything else but to finish it. At 3am, I was just happy that I didn’t break the Wii trying to install it.
