Actually we watched Stranger than Fiction last weekend, but I just didn’t write about it till now. They opened up a new Harkins Theatres in Chino Hills so Jeannie & I thought that we go check it out. It’s one of them mega ones, you know, 20 screens (didn’t count, seems like), nice big seats, nicer food (I think we saw fries, tacos, spring rolls, and lots other stuff). It’s cool, and I am sure will be really convenient for us to see lots movies (whatever that means, lolz).
Anyway, we originally were going to watch Apocalypto, but due to some “rumors” of it being violent (from people who haven’t seen the movie, mind you), we were forced to pick another movie… I guess I’ll just have to wait for the DVDs…
Stranger than Fiction was our next choice, and the movie was surprisingly not bad. The plot was pretty interesting, other than the major logic flaw. But if you overlook that part (which was difficult for me) and just watch it as entertainment, it was pretty good (in a non-violent way of course). Both Jeannie & I liked it and would recommend it for a night of non-violent movie experience.
Now for the logic flaw: This whole story is based on a guy who lives his life on a strict routine, but got turned up-side-down when he started to hear a fiction writing narrating his life. Because of that a whole series of events started that changed his life for the better. Now, the writer obviously didn’t know that the guy can hear her writing about his life, so in her version, what caused the guy to step out of his routine and start the whole series of life changing events? Well, this logic flaw is present throughout this whole movie, and I guess it’s one of those time travel problems that if you think hard enough, your head will implode… (So I gave up thinking about it early in the movie and just try to enjoy it)
