POI:

• Versailles

We made a day trip today to the famous Palace of Versailles. Demonstrating my awesome Frech language skills, I bought the train tickets and off we went. The ride was pleasant and relaxing, passing through the city and then to the country side. It took us about 40 mins to get there with frequent stops in between, so the palace shouldn’t actually be that far distance-wise.

We (I) were smart enough to buy the combo pack tickets that combines our train tickets and the palace tickets and we didn’t have to wait in line! We laughed at them rookie tourists as we passed them by and went straight in. Since the palace is so big and everything is in French, we had no idea what we were looking at, so we decided to take the self-guided audio tour in English (only time throughout the trip). This caused great distress to Jeannie since she couldn’t get over the cleaness of the headphones and how they were used by other people, LOLz.

We finished the tour around noon and went out to the garden for lunch. We had purchased 2 sandwiches at the train station for this purpose. While Jeannie enjoyed her veggie sandwich, I was at the point of throwing mine up. See, I thought I had ordered Ham and Cheese, which seems harmless (and in fact I had ordered correctly). It’s just that the cheese was no ordinary cheese… It was goat cheese! Damn that was pretty aweful…

We continued throughout the day at the garden and the various “side palaces”. Damn these places since everything was just so huge. We walked and walked and walked and near the end it wasn’t that fun since our feet were burning (it was pretty though!). We called it a day around 5pm and took the train home.
